Are you "sure" that you are a registered parishioner?
We meet people & friends at Saint Alphonsus Liguori who attend Mass or events, bible studies, Senior Fun Club, etc. - this does not automatically make you a parishioner.
You may even think that they are because you attend Mass weekly
But you may NOT be in any records as a registered parishioner. You are NOTautomatically registered when your child is a student in the school or Religious Education program or receives a sacrament - sorry .............Please Register Here
You are always in our prayers and you are always welcome to worship with us ~ ~ but being properly registered is important so that we can serve your needs and have your contact information.
Recently, our priest attempted to reach out to anoint a friend of our community who was in the hospital, only he/she was not a registered parishioner, so we had no contact information to reach them. We can pray, but that special connection and anointing was missed.
Registering is also important so we can record your donations and contributions to the church. This past tax season, more than 1 family was disappointed that their weekly/monthly/Holiday contributions were not recorded in a tax letter. Only registered parishioners have accounts and have their donations recorded for them.
Registering is important is you wish to have a priest sign a church document for you, verifying that you are a practicing Catholic: Some examples of letter/documents requesting your active registration would be.
* Active role in a liturgical ministry * Godparent (for baptism) * Sponsor for Confirmation * If you will be confirmed * Letter needed if you will have your child baptized in a parish of a Diocese other than the Archdiocese of Chicago. * Letter needed You are entering into the Sacrament of Matrimony in another parish, and permission is given for this. * You are asking for proof of their membership in the Roman Catholic Church in preparation of their child entering into the Sacrament of Matrimony in another Roman Catholic Parish out of state and permission is given for this. * You are petitioning for adoption of a child. * You are transferring membership to another parish.
These are not all of the circumstances where a personal connection with your faith community, verifying your role in the in the parish is required.
